Put on your earJust today (December 5) International Volunteer Day is celebrated around the world. This commemoration supported by the United Nations Organization, aims to recognize and thank the contribution that millions of volunteers make around the world to community development, but who are the volunteers within a business foundation? Within business foundations there are two types of volunteers. On the one hand, those who are more familiar to us and we recognize more easily, that is, those people who join the activities carried out to achieve the objectives of the foundation or company programs (and its Responsibility program). Corporate Social). For example, soon, on December 15 at the Nezahualcóyotl Concert Hall of Ciudad Universitaria, the MVS Radio Foundation will organize its annual event, which consists of a concert where Guadalupe Pineda and Fernando de la Mora will participate accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of our highest house of studies and thus support hearing disabilities with the money raised at the box office. For this, MVS employees and supporters offer part of their time to support the organization of the Concert and promote it. They are part of typical volunteering. The other type of volunteers are made up of counselors or patrons.

Within the structure of any philanthropic Phone Number List organization there are three levels of collaborators. Thus, imagine a pyramid, divide it into three and observe that at the top is the governing body, which is the Board of Directors. In the middle of our imaginary pyramid we have the foundation staff who do receive a salary, they are the staff or operational team. And in the third part of this figure, at the base, are the volunteers who support programs, projects and services, such as those at the concert. Some business foundations that wish to strengthen decision-making and raise their professional performance also constitute an Advisory Council, made up of people who are specialists in the social issues in which the institution works. The volunteers who form the Board of Directors within business foundations are often directors, executives or shareholders of the company. They are not recruited, they are appointed. It is a closed group that does not frequently allow other people outside the corporation to collaborate in it since it handles business-related information. These volunteers make social investment decisions and monitor the projects that the company finances through its foundation. For this reason, it is easy to find the General Director of the company, the President of the Board of Directors, the person responsible for the CSR program, the director of Human Resources, Marketing, Advertising, Communication, etc. It is almost a generality that the members of these Boards of Directors do not receive any financial remuneration and offer their time and talent and the resources of their areas to be responsible for the management tasks of the foundation.

As noted, the contribution of these people helps determine what type of programs they want to carry out, to which organizations the social investment will be directed and, above all, they will ensure that the business objectives for which the foundation was created are met. As we noted, in some business foundations volunteers are also called to form part of an Advisory Council, which, as its name suggests, the reader notes are volunteers (people outside the company) who, due to their in-depth knowledge of a topic, a social cause or even because they are prominent members of other foundations or the philanthropic sector, they are invited to form a team who are asked questions and are asked for certain guidance. These volunteers meet less frequently than the Board of Directors volunteers. Thus, continuing with the case of the MVS Radio Foundation, an honorary council could be created with specialists from the philanthropic sector and hearing loss, one of the central topics that this noble institution addresses. This committee would eventually meet in one or up to 4 annual meetings to present the programs or projects that are going to be undertaken and request their feedback to enhance them and recommend who to create alliances with to increase the resources allocated to the problem being addressed.
